The INSIDE Connect event is returning in a new location. This year it will take place in the heart of Palermo, Sicily, where the Army Officers' Club will host two days of the European Digital Systems Roadmapping Forum. After Málaga in 2025, the INSIDE community moves south to a city shaped over the centuries by Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman and Spanish influences, and today home to a solid academic and research base.
The programme brings together industry, research and policy actors from across Europe for keynotes, parallel sessions, thematic workshops and a projects exhibition. Day one looks at the wider picture, with sessions on Chips Act 2.0 and the next EU framework programme, the global semiconductor power shift, RISC-V and next generation European chips, autonomous systems and the future of compute. Day two moves into working mode, with parallel tracks and thematic workshops on software-defined mobility, European engineering toolchains, trustworthy cyber-physical systems and open ECS architectures.
CEI-Sphere will be part of it. On the morning of 1 October, the project will run a dedicated track, "CEI-Sphere Deep Dive: Edge to Cloud in Industrial Optimisation and Productivity". The session will open with an introduction to the project by Paolo Azzoni (INSIDE/Eurotech), followed by a presentation of the Hourglass Model 2027 as a business canvas with Antonio Kung (Trialog), and an analysis of the "Stand-up 3" questionnaire results with Mauro Tortonesi (University of Ferrara). The track will close with an open discussion and a first set of preliminary recommendations, so participants are welcome to bring their own experience of moving industrial workloads across the cloud, edge and IoT continuum.
Beyond the sessions, the social programme includes a guided walk through Palermo's historic centre on the afternoon of 30 September, followed by the official social dinner at Palazzo Fatta, in the heart of the city.
