HEDGE-IoT is an innovative EU-funded project driving the next wave of digital transformation in the energy sector under the Horizon Europe programme.
Its mission is to modernise energy systems by deploying IoT assets across all grid levels—from behind-the-meter installations to TSO infrastructures—while bringing intelligence to the edge and cloud layers through advanced AI/ML tools. HEDGE-IoT is introducing a pioneering Digital Framework that unifies the cloud–edge continuum and enables federated applications managed through sophisticated computational orchestration. This approach strengthens grid resilience, unlocks hidden flexibility, and fosters new market opportunities.
The project follows a multi-dimensional strategy built on four pillars: Technology Facilitation, Interoperability, Standardisation, and Digital Energy Ecosystem Enablement. Together, these ensure seamless communication, standardised data exchange, and a robust digital ecosystem that accelerates the integration of renewable energy sources.
