LICORICE (reLIable and sCalable tOols foR self-sovereIgn identity and data proteCtion framEwork) is a European initiative dedicated to strengthening digital sovereignty through advanced privacy-preserving technologies and secure identity management solutions. In a context of rapid digital transformation, where electronic services are expanding and opportunities such as EUDI Wallets offer faster and more efficient transactions, the project addresses growing challenges linked to sophisticated cyber-threats, data misuse, identity-related crime, and widespread concerns over loss of data control. Aligned with major EU policies including the Digital Decade, the EU Digital Identity Strategy, the Data Strategy, and the AI and Cyber Resilience Acts, LICORICE aims to provide a credible pathway for citizens, public administrations, and businesses—particularly SMEs—to regain trust and control over their digital identities and personal data across online environments, supporting secure identification, authentication, and privacy-by-design digital services.
