Joint Research Centre (JRC)

The Joint Research Center (JRC) provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society. Research is carried out in various fields to provide independent advice to EU policymakers and put science at the heart of European policies. Originally established under the Euratom Treaty, the JRC has longstanding expertise in the nuclear field, but offers scientific competences from a wide range of disciplines to support almost all EU policy areas.

The JRC applied the Hourglass Model for the "Code of Conduct on energy management related interoperability of Energy Smart Appliances", which aims to  to increase the number of interoperable ESA that are placed on the Union market. As a result, in the near future, the current Code of Conduct will help to improve the environmental impact of energy use over the whole energy system, contribute to grid stability/security of supply, economical optimisation, or other objectives through the increase of demand side flexibility.

Check the slides down to know more about the application of the Hourglass Model to the Code of Conduct.
